Description
Space Launch System simulations. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) supercomputer simulations of solid rocket booster separation for the Space Launch System (SLS). The simulations show the flow around the vehicle and boosters, coloured by Mach number and pressure coefficient. The top image shows results from a high-fidelity viscous simulation, while the bottom image shows results of an efficient inviscid simulation. These simulations were produced at NASA's Advanced Supercomputing facility using the Pleiades supercomputer. These simulations were featured at the SC13 supercomputing conference in November 2013.
