Description
Space Launch System simulation. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation, produced on a supercomputer, of a launch of the Space Launch System (SLS). This is a drift scenario, with the vehicle plume impinging on the launch tower and platform. This simulation was used to provide engineers with unsteady pressure forces to assist in the redesign of the tower and 'umbilical' hardware. This simulation was produced at NASA's Advanced Supercomputing facility using the Pleiades supercomputer. The results are viewed on NASA's hyperwall-2. This simulation was featured at the SC13 supercomputing conference in November 2013.
